LABORATORY
of technical diagnostics
The technical diagnostics laboratory is used not only for teaching and thesis solutions but also has great importance in cooperation with industrial partners.
The Technical Diagnostics Laboratory focuses on these areas:
Vibration diagnostics without dismantling in the framework of predictive maintenance of machines. The laboratory is equipped with modern vibration measurement and analysis technology. It is mainly used for active teaching in the subject "Technical Diagnostics" (in the master's programme) and for training PhD students in signal analysis. Furthermore, the laboratory's technical equipment helps us cooperate with industry, especially in machine maintenance, vibration measurement and analysis.
Noise measurement and analysis In the laboratory, we can also measure, analyse and identify sound sources (especially industrial noise). Again, we use these diagnostics in teaching students and collaborating with industry.
Determination of the insulation properties of noise-insulating materials The laboratory has a unique device: the alpha cabin. In this area, we specialise in measuring sound absorption.
Visualization of the Sound Field An acoustic camera is used to visualize the sound field. Visually, its output resembles that of a thermal imaging camera, with the key difference being that it overlays colored fields on the real image of the noise source to depict the propagation of sound into the surroundings. The output is an image-based representation (video file) that allows tracking the development of the sound field over time for both overall levels and individual frequency bands.
