A holistic approach to new concepts and optimisation of future automotive powertrains and efficient, economical, environmentally friendly, safe, dynamic and comfortable vehicles based on virtual reality evaluation and experimentation. Internal combustion engines: new concepts for controlled combustion and heat recovery, improved emissions, controlled mixture formation and supercharging, transient modes. Configuration design based on research into engine thermodynamics and mechanics, transmissions, electrical transmissions, hybrid concepts, active suspension and integrated vehicle control. Research on simulation and optimisation methods. Integrated engine/drive and drive/vehicle control using predictive and adaptive nonlinear systems with a hierarchical structure. Linear electric actuators for reciprocating motion.Research on experimental methods, software, and test equipment. Simulation calibration. Implementation in industry. Development of international cooperation.
